MONTEVERDE

A world-renowned ecotourism destination located in the Tilarán Mountain Range of Costa Rica. It is home to an incredible range of flora and fauna, with over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, 120 species of reptiles and amphibians, and more than 2,500 species of plants.
Named for the persistent fog that blankets the forest and creates a unique microclimate that supports its extraordinary biodiversity. This lush forest is full of towering trees, vines, epiphytes, and orchids, which can be explored on trails, hanging bridges, or by tram.
Visitors can experience the beauty and wonder of the Monteverde Cloud Forest through a range of activities, including hiking, birdwatching, wildlife spotting, and canopy tours. One of the most popular activities is the Monteverde Cloud Forest night tour, which takes visitors on a guided walk through the forest after dark. This is an excellent opportunity to observe the nocturnal creatures of the forest, such as tarantulas, bats, and night birds.

The Children's Eternal Rainforest is the largest private reserve in Costa Rica, covers over 22,000 acres and is named in honor of a fundraising campaign by Swedish schoolchildren in the 1980s, which raised money to purchase and protect the land from deforestation.
Today is a key conservation area for the country, providing habitat for a wide variety of flora and fauna, including more than 400 bird species, over 100 species of mammals, and thousands of plant species.
Visitors to the reserve can explore its numerous hiking trails, birdwatching spots, and observation towers to fully immerse themselves in the lush vegetation and biodiversity.
In addition to its ecological importance, the reserve is also an important site for scientific research and environmental education.

The Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve is a protected area of approximately 3100 acres (12.5 square kilometers) in the Monteverde region of Costa Rica. It was created in 1989 by a group of community members who wanted to protect the remaining areas of forest in the area from logging and other destructive activities.
The reserve is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, including more than 600 species of birds, 100 species of mammals, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles, and thousands of species of plants. Some of the most iconic species found in the reserve include the Resplendent Quetzal, Three-wattled Bellbird, and Baird's Tapir.
The reserve is known for its cloud forests, which are characterized by their cool and misty environments. These forests are home to a unique array of plant and animal life, including mosses, ferns, orchids, and bromeliads, as well as a variety of mammals and birds adapted to life in the clouds.

The hanging bridges of Monteverde are a unique attraction that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the lush forest canopy and observe the incredible biodiversity of the area from above. The hanging bridges offer a safe and thrilling experience for people of all ages and physical abilities.
The trail that connects the eight bridges stretches for approximately 1.9 miles (3 km) and takes visitors through different layers of the forest, from the forest floor to the treetops. The bridges range in length from 150 to 510 feet (50 to 170 meters) and are suspended between towering trees, offering breathtaking views of the forest, wildlife, and the Gulf of Nicoya in the distance.
Visitors can observe a variety of birds, such as the resplendent quetzal, hummingbirds, and toucans, as well as a variety of mammals, including monkeys, sloths, and coatis.

Tree Climbing is an exciting and unique way to experience the cloud forest of Costa Rica. It is the first tree climbing park in the country, and offers a climbing circuit of 4 trees ranging from 10m (33ft) to 20m (66ft) high, with various levels of difficulty. The trees are equipped with specially designed handholds attached with straps to prevent harm or damage to the tree. For safety, automatic belay systems are also in place, allowing adventurers to climb and then descend safely back to the ground.
This adventure provides an opportunity to connect with nature and explore the cloud forest from a different perspective, with a focus on respecting and protecting the natural environment. The tree climbing experience is designed to be safe and enjoyable for visitors of all ages and skill levels.

Some of the most popular waterfalls in the area include the Monteverde Waterfall and the San Luis Waterfall.
-The Monteverde Waterfall is a stunning 25-meter (82-foot) waterfall that cascades into a small pool below. Visitors can hike to the waterfall through lush cloud forest and enjoy the scenic views along the way. Swimming is allowed in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall, which provides a refreshing escape from the warm tropical climate.
-The San Luis Waterfall is located in a remote area and requires a moderate hike to reach, but the trek is well worth the effort. The waterfall drops 40 meters (130 feet) into a beautiful turquoise pool that is surrounded by dense forest. Visitors can swim in the pool and enjoy the cool, clear water.
